Really liked this style, fez music is fire.

ian-booms responds:

Thank you very much! Agreed, the Fez ost is so good!

Interesting vibe there, kinda has a creepy fairground feeling to it. Good job!

RealBlargMaster responds:

This song was completely written past the AMs so it makes a lot of sense. I was drunk off of lateness

This was a very enjoyable piece, quite free flowing to my ears. The bassline is particularly nice though, was this recorded in or programmed? Good work overall. Also sorry to hear about your accident and current circumstance, stay strong and keep making music :)

TaintedLogic responds:

Thanks so much for the review, 8-bitheroes! It's all programmed - I don't play any of those instruments, haha. I'll definitely keep making music! Thanks again. ^_^

Sounds interesting, i really enjoyed the textures, kinda felt like i was under water at times.

Midnights-Ocean responds:

thanks! I got a real water vibe off of this too. Was the sounds the Magneto module made when I ran the aqua udu through it. :3

I really like the sounds and flavour you are going for here, makes me want to do some ninja moves. My only criticism would be that the right panned snare type sound is a little distracting being so far out there.

larrynachos responds:

Yeah, that's a fair criticism. I don't have a stereo imager so I pan by ear. I guess I never noticed how far it was panned.

Thanks for the review 8bh!

Nice sounds/melodies and some good head bopping moments. I think mix/master area could use some work though. For example the whole mix sounds very squashed and over compressed. You can see that in the waveform too. I know maybe it was what you were going for since its a dubsteppy/electro track but even with that in mind its still too compressed for my tastes.

The only other point i would add is for me it felt like it went on a bit too long i think around 3.50mins would of been plenty long enough. Of course this is just my opinion and you dont have to listen to me, i'm no expert :)

VorticityMusic responds:

Yeh I'm pretty bad at mixing :P

I like the guitar tone, are you recording that with real guitar > amp or guitar > pc > guitar rig or is it a kontakt library kind of thing? Anyway good job.

PancakePocket responds:

Thanks! I am using a guitar-like synth believe it or not!

I like those chilled vibes.

Zelgeon responds:

Haha thanks man ;)

That's a really nice track. You nailed the arrangement andeverything works together really well in a cohesive way to create those dubstep grooves we know and love. The sound design is also very nice and tasteful which keeps everything interesting. I also like your description as to what vsts you used for each element. Just curious what is it your doing with the reverb at 1.46 to get that blurry transitional effect?

Zelgeon responds:

Do you mean to the final of the drop? It's just a reverb on the leads with a Wet/Dry mix automation. The reverb has the Large Hall preset, but the dry is all the way down and the wet is all the way up, with a long decay.
Make sure to add a kick at the final of the drop :3

Theres a few things that strike me as lacking somewhat that could really make this pop. One would be the drums, they sound quite dull in the mix.. The snare needs to come forward with some eq and i can barely hear the hats if at all.
For a track thats tagged with energy you deffinitely want more high end data going on with hats, rides and cymbals as it really helps to build the energy and fill out the spectrum and makes things more interesting.

Secondly you could really use some sfx/white noise sweeps/swooshes/risers/reverse cymbals etc going on during various transitional parts to again build more energy and excitement.

Melodic ideas are nice but i feel the the main lead could use a little more expressive-ness like some automated vibrato here and there just to keep things interesting and maybe even some layering with another lead sound.

Overall good job, just missing some things to take it that bit further.

Lubloom responds:

Snare is EQed like hell, but since it is a dubstep snare I may have tried to get it to sound too different and therefore resulting in the sort of snare absence. Hi-hats weren't loud on purpose but maybe a little too quiet, though I can definitely hear them. Bass boost headphones?

I can see what you mean. Annoying thing about the riser is that I actually made one after I finished this song. I need to remember my cymbals as well, I always forget about the reverse in the mastering!

Never considered using vibrato, might have to try that out. However, the lead was actually layered in the second half of the song.

Thanks for the useful feedback!
